More than half of the Chinese companies operating in Europe view the EU business environment positively, while still acknowledging rising trade barriers and growing regulatory challenges. That's according to a 2025 report on the EU business environment, released by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade on Tuesday. The report says 53 percent of surveyed Chinese companies gave a positive assessment of the EU business climate; nearly 49 percent plan to expand supply chain cooperation with European businesses. Chinese companies are particularly interested in the EU's digital economy, financial and green economy sectors. At the same time, many companies expressed concerns over what they describe as the EU's securitization of economic and trade issues. They say increased trade and investment restrictions, along with rising operating costs, are making business more challenging.
WANG YIFEI Spokesperson China Council for the Promotion of International Trade "Chinese companies hope the two sides can resolve the challenges facing bilateral trade and economic cooperation through dialogue and consultation. They also hope the EU will provide a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies operating in Europe."
